Ron’s earliest musical influence was from his father, a gifted musician. Later he would steal his older brother’s copy of Led Zeppelin’s fourth album, which helped shape his musical direction indefinitely. “I carried this album as a musical crutch for many years and would find myself referring back to songs like Going to California time and time again. There are so many great musical moments on this album”.
Ron has some other home-produced projects already under his belt: the ethereal and melancholy Remembrance explores questions and feelings using only a keyboard and live takes. Acoustic Dream plucks even heavier questions with persistent acoustic rhythms and soothing guitar solos. Ron’s musical journey continued on its previous momentum in Inertia, an instrumental rock groove. This album hits the hardest of all three with powerful, looping drum tracks and a new level of solo work that shows Ron’s gift is not entirely boxed in with a certain style.
Ron continues to push the envelope of his musical craft in his latest project, Persona non Grata. So far it is shaping up to be a heartfelt and emotional experience. “I am trying to pull out all the stops on this one,” he says. “I am heading in directions I have never gone and returning to revisit some older material at the same time. So far it is shaping up to be an exciting journey”.
Songs will be released here as they are being created and molded for inclusion on Persona non Grata. Be sure to share your comments about the songs. They are still works in progress, but as Ron says, the key to making great music is “a good ear and a whole lot of patience”.
Now turn it up!
